Why VLF?
The Ladakhi way of life sustained for centuries through harmony with nature and a rich cultural heritage is now under threat from rapid modernisation and unregulated development. This shift is leading to cultural erosion, weakening social bonds, and creating a growing disconnect from Indigenous wisdom.
A key driver of this issue is the imposition of standardised education models that fail to reflect Ladakhi traditions, values, and ways of knowing. These rigid frameworks alienate children from their roots, foster feelings of inadequacy, and diminish their sense of identity and dignity. Without immediate intervention, Ladakh risks losing its unique cultural legacy and the opportunity to equip future generations with an education that is both empowering and deeply rooted in their heritage
